Orientation
We arrived late in the evening yesterday.
We were exhausted, so we crashed at the hotel.
I was up as soon as the sun came up.
Can you blame me?
I wanted to explore my new home.
This is the future.
This is Tessera.
And it’s… underwhelming?
The website and the paperwork took some liberties, to be sure.
I was expecting something grander.
Sleeker.
More… glass?
Instead, we found out our unit is right next to the HVAC units.
For the whole data center.
I was up at dawn because I thought a jet was taking off next door.
But it’s okay.
I’m sure we’ll figure something out.
They had us in orientation all morning.
But it wasn’t in a room watching a presentation.
They gave us smart glasses and told us to go for a walk.
So we did.
We all went our separate ways.
Just asked the glasses where the SMR was, and the glasses showed me the way.
They even answered all my questions.
And I had a lot.
And guess who showed up?
Marty.
He dragged us all back together.
S came from the soccer fields.
F and W from the art studios.
We’ve all collectively decided we’re adopting Marty.
Ash was salty about it at first, until Marty showed us the robotics fab.
The little chassis we put together for Ash?
Soooo a singularity ago.
